At Christ Church Walkley our aim is to take up our part, right where we live, in what Jesus is doing in the whole world:
‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’
(Matthew 28:18-20, the Bible)
We often describe what we think that means for our life together in terms of being pointed in three directions (click on each item for more detail):
|UP:||Towards God as we seek to centre our lives around him
Knowing, delighting in and magnifying God is what we were made to do and is the bedrock of living the life God wants us to live.
|OUT:||Towards others in the community around us
We want to be a part of the community around us, to share our lives and share our message with our friends and neighbours. We think Jesus and the life he brings is good news for us and for the neighbourhoods we are a part of.
|IN:||Towards each other as we seek to centre our lives around him
The church is the community of disciples of Jesus – the family of those who are devoted to him as the rescuer and ruler of the world. The call to follow Jesus is a privilege offered to all people. It involves every part of who we are and what we do.
